In 1956, with the support of a friend, Touko Laaksonen decided to show the world his hidden art of sexually-charged portraits of men. He sent some of the portraits to an American magazine called Physique Pictorial, under the pseudonym “Tom”. Autism has been getting a lot of media attention lately which has slowly dispelled myths about the condition. It was once thought that people afflicted with autism were low functioning and were dismissed as mentally retarded. While most people who are autistic lack language and social skills, they generally have extremely high intelligence levels. (more…)

Latest “Blue Sky Studios” feature, “Horton Hears a Who,” transfers Dr. Seuss’ classic onto the up-to-date medium of digital animation — and what was lost and what was gained in the process seems to be the major concern of many film critics. By now, everyone has heard of the Turkish phenomenon who goes by the name of Esref Armagan. On the off chance you haven’t heard of him, Esref is an amazing artist who didn’t let his blindness stop him from becoming a painter.
